It’s June which means summer weather has (hopefully) arrived. It’s finally time to get out your shorts, bathing suits, flip flops, and soak up some rays. As the temperatures rise, you are inevitably going to be a bit more active outdoors than in the cooler seasons and the last thing you want is your makeup melting off your face.

In my first post I’ll be giving you a few tips I use on my clients to help you enjoy the heat without sacrificing beauty. Over the years of doing makeup for clients I’ve learned a thing or two about long lasting makeup, especially when working with bridal clients in the summer. Makeup for photography and makeup for the beach are definitely worlds apart but with a few alterations I’ve come up with some easy recommendations for your every day summer looks.

Here is a quick guide I’ve put together for all you brides and grooms to-be on looking your best for your wedding day. From a year out all the way to the morning of, you’ll find tips and direction to help avoid common mistakes that are often overlooked.

6-12 Months Out:

Any skin concerns that you may have should be addressed immediately by a professional. Depending on the issues it could take up to 12 months to achieve satisfactory results.

The Makeup Show Chicago, 2013

On June 8th I flew out to Chicago to attend The Makeup Show at the Bridgeport Art Center for the very first time. For those who are unfamiliar, The Makeup Show is a traveling beauty event featuring key note speakers, demos, exhibitors, and networking for those in the beauty industry. Basically, it’s a makeup artists dream come true with companies giving discounts on products and being able to get up close and personal with celebrity artists.

Makeup Workshop | Bayfield, WI Makeup Artist
