When deciding on a logo to represent my business, it didn’t take me long to settle on a peacock feather. I knew I wanted something different from the dated, predictable logos other makeup artist were using (lipstick prints, dramatic eyelashes, makeup brushes, etc.), I wanted something with a little more thought and story behind it.
Peacocks are one of nature’s most fashionable, timeless creatures. They possess a subtle, chic, colorful flair while maintaining a cool masculine feel that really translates to my own personal style and angle of work. The way the bold teal and purple melds with the muted brown and grey of their feathering is a classic palette that really inspires me to combine unexpected colors and textures. All over the world, peacocks also culturally signify various characteristics, including knowledge, compassion, and vanity.
When coming up with the actual design, I just knew I wanted something simple, modern, and minimal. I brought my ideas to graphic designer Taylor Bjork. I knew he would appreciate the approach I had in mind as our styles seem to overlap quite a bit. He took the tone I was looking for and with an insightful approach truly exceeded my expectations for the representation of my business.
As a makeup artist, nothing pleases me more than helping others gain the confidence to show off their own natural beauty, to be fierce, to be their own personal peacock.
